This site contains a collection of pictures, anecdotes and other stuff from my "musical" past that has been gathering dust for so long now, I might as well publish it on the web. I've been a drummer in a lot of different (amateur)bands and I started playing the drums when I was about 10 years old (1974). I have been playing the drums eversince and I still enjoy it 'till this day! Do what you will whit this site; if I'm boring you just surf away. It is meant as a kind of archive for myself and former band-members and it gives me something to do. Have fun ! (or not). Some pictures of me here to start off. |

The early years As many musicians have, I started out in a marching-band in the small town Wijk bij Duurstede in the Netherlands. My nextdoor neighbour was always keeping the neighbourhood awake when he was practicing his drumming-skills on the attic. No need to say that the noise attracted me like a fly to cowdung and before I knew it, he was teaching me the tricks of the trade. Mom's knitting-needles and an empty box came in handy just fine. (wrath of mom descended on me for she never had a straight knitting-needle to work with, but at least she got some beautiful music in return). After a few years I also joined a Scottish Pipe-band (in Holland! True!!) to lead the drumsection to glory & prizes. Check out some pictures from this period. |

| Make some real noise
In the late 70's / early 80's punk was starting to appear in my small town, and 'course that was my new cowdung. I bought my first drumkit ( a real Premier) and with some crazy guys from school we raised hell in cellars and barns. The first punkbands I played in had names like "The Beelzz" and "Babbi the Fizz", but things really took off when I moved to a larger city in the center of Holland. Now living in Utrecht the possibilities for making noise were plenty, so that's just what I did. After a while I ended up in a band called "Chuck and a lot of Noise" and that's also how I met a few crazy guys that are still my friends 'till this day. Check out some pictures from this period. |

Other bands
I terrorized
From there things picked up, and I played a lot of different types of music to enhance my skills. I did some Jazz, Country, Rockabilly, Blues, Mainstream, Metal and some strange undefined types of noise. Also I had a few pupils and I still was the leading-drummer at a Pipe-band from Hilversum. I even made it Dutch Champion in solo-drumming at the Dutch Open Pipe-band Championships. After that I concentrated more on the Rockbands and the bands I played in had colourfull names like: "Angry Mountain Men", "the Riddlers", "Wolfpack", "Them Brothers Outlaw", "Coïtus int", "The Blue Guitars", "Domtown Troubadours" and so on. Check out some pictures from that period. |

| Freakface
The last band I was in was called Freakface. It was a kind of "Techno-metal" type band. We played without a bass-player, for we couldn't find a good one at the time. So we simply replaced him with a Roland 404 bass-machine. That worked out so well we kept Roland and he was easy to work with. He was never too stoned to play, never complained and always present. Only downside was that he didn't chip in for the rent. Strange thing is that in this band the singer John was the same guy that I started out with long ago in Utrecht in "Chuck and a lot of Noise". He has become my best friend and he is also a bit crazy, but I like that in a singer. Check out some pictures from Freakface. |

Odds and
ends
At this moment it's a bit quiet at the noisefront, so maybe that is why I decided to make this website. I'm kinda in between gigs at the moment and devoting more time to other things like making websites, but music will always be my first and last love. Without music the world would be a grey and boring place, so if you have the chance to make some noise; do it !! Check out these pictures that are leftovers from the above categories. They include some old setlists. It's a mystery to me where they came from. Usually I was so drunk after a gig I even forgot my drumsticks, let alone an old setlist! |
